Objectives for Week of October 27-31
8.EE.7a: Give examples of linear equations in one variable with one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. Show which of these possibilities is the case by successively transforming the given equation into simpler forms, until an equivalent equation of the form x = a, a = a, or a = b results (where a and b are different numbers). 8.EE.7b: Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms. |
Monday 10-27-2014:
Students took the Social Studies 1st nine weeks assessment this morning. Afterwards, students attended their second elective and their 4th block for the remainder of the day. Students in Mrs. Whisnant's 4th block, discussed the three types of equations and took a quiz. Tuesday 10-28-2014
Students reviewed for their FINAL EQUATIONS test. Each student was given a review sheet with 16 questions concerning solving various types of complex equations using the Distributive Property, Combining Like Terms, Inverse Operations, and special case equations. They worked in groups of 2-3 to rotate around the room to ten of the equations to solve them collectively. At the end of 30 minutes, we went over every answer and they received 1 point extra credit to use on their Equations Test for every equation they solved correctly. |

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Students began their study on Scatterplots. The learned about the THREE types of a associations related to scatterplots. They also discussed and evaluated data and how comparisons of bivariate data creates the THREE associations.
